Scheduled backups in vSphere Data Protection (VDP) do not run

I recently came across an issue recently where VDP backups were failing to run.  Although the backup schedules were enabled, the jobs would not run.

On further investigation I found the Backup Scheduler service was stopped.  To start this again, I had to logon to the VDP Configuration Console.

  1. https://VDP_IP_Address:8543/vdp-configure
  2. Click on the Status tab
  3. If the Backup Scheduler service is stopped, click on the Start button
